The video for Kool A.D.’s “Eroika” is exactly the sort of thing you’d expect from the ex-Das Racist emcee, but his #BasedFreestyle-type delivery that left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s fine though, nothing that a Based God track couldn’t wash out.
I didn’t hop on the Steel Tipped Dove bandwagon until I heard his work on Big Baby Gandhi’s NO1 2 LOOK UP 2 mixtape earlier this year, but since then I’ve been a huge fan. “American Experience” off of that project is one of my favorite tracks of the year, and when I heard his work on “Hypersensitive Jester” with Bill Ding and Kool A.D. It’s hard to deny that the guys from Das Racist can make a good music video. Last week it was the spectacular video for “Girl,” and the latest visuals are for Kool A.D.’s “Manny Pacquiao.” I don’t exactly know what’s going on here but it looks like a recruitment video for a cult I want to join.
NYC producer Hot Sugar has been putting out great music consistently for a while now. As opposed to one or two new tracks, today we’re receiving a whole EP for free. Kool A.D.’s 51 is the rap mixtape that we’ve all been waiting for from Das Racist’s Victor Vazquez, and here are the visuals for one of the standout tracks, “La Piñata.” The video features Kool A.D. in a ghillie suit jacket, Heems, a chicken, and Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire among others.
Das Racist has shown that they can make great music as a collective. Kool A.D.’s The Palm Wine Drinkard was mediocre at best in my opinion, but even then I still had faith that Victor Vazquez could make great music on his own. His new mixtape 51 dropped today and so far it looks like it’s everything I was hoping for when I downloaded The Palm Wine Drinkard. I was somewhat disappointed by Kool A.D.’s solo mixtape The Palm Wine Drinkard, but his verses on Heems’ Nehru Jackets and Action Bronson’s Blue Chips were able to restore my faith in him. The Das Racist rapper has just announced that he is going to be releasing his newest mixtape, 51, next Tuesday, and until then you can listen to “Ticky Ticky” which is located below.
